1 Aug 2016

The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) recorded 717 school students nationwide for being involved in drugs last year, said Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan.
He said the total showed an increase compared to 2014 in which 622 students, aged between 13 and 18, were involved.
"Drug usage among students is still under control and those involved are closely monitored and given counselling.
"The ministry is now focusing on category 'C' schools which have disciplinary records, including high rate of truancy," he said.
He was speaking to reporters after attending the 2016 Syawal Celebration with excellent students organised by the Malaysia Narcotics Crime Eradication Organisation at the Police Training Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.
In this regard, Kamalanathan said the ministry was now awaiting the full report from AADK and police on the detention of two secondary school students believed to be involved in trafficking ganja around Bandar Sunway recently
"I understand the incident took place outside of the school compound. But I am disappointed as it involved young students with drugs.
The students were among 16 men, aged 16 and 29, who were picked up by Subang Jaya Narcotics CID in four separate raids last Tuesday and Thursday.
Also seized were 11,691 grammes of ganja valued at more than RM33,000.
