Perak tops list of states for seizure of drugs assets - Malaysian Insider

Perak topped the list of national police forces in terms of seizure of drug trafficking assets last year.


Perak police said it seized assets belonging to 2,091 drug kingpins and traffickers totalling RM13.7 million, an increase of 209% compared to RM4.4 million the previous year.
State CID narcotics chief R. Ravi Chandran said the seized assets included houses, land, vehicles and bank accounts, adding that 569 people were arrested for drug trafficking and 113 were arrested for unspecified drugs offences.
Ravi Chandran said a good number of those arrested had allegedly masterminded syndicates, or planned trafficking, or were financiers.
According to Ravi Chandran, more than 4,000 people were arrested for possession last year, an 18.3% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, nearly 4,600 people were charged with being addicts.
Police are also hunting three men in connection with drug cases in Perak: Hew Tean Khoon, 40, S. Thevan, 34, and Mohd Yunus Mat Yusof, 30.
Hew’s last known addresses were Lorong 3, Gunung Rapat, Ipoh; and, Desa Pakar Apartment, Salak Selatan Baru, Kuala Lumpur, while Thevan last lived on Jalan Queen, Pasir Pinji, Ipoh.
Mohd Yunus was known to have lived in Kampung Perlok Baru, Sungkai.
